Back to Summer

After several visits from a black bear, we were able to disinterest him by removing all winter wildlife food sources.  Not before he bashed the corn can and stole a bag of corn from the back of the truck.  We watch for him when we're out and about, but we suspect he's off to better food sources.

Things are  becoming springlike, finally , just now, blossoms forming on the fruit trees and blossoms on the lilac bushes.

It was a tough winter, colder than usual, cold spells lasting longer than usual, and more snow than usual.
Since we love winter, it wasn't too daunting.  We had a nice family coming to run dogs and a few other regulars returned.   Now we're into summer work, having removed all of the straw from the pens and the houses. (Nick and T.J.)

This has been the last official year of our sled dog kennel.  Twenty years we've been here, providing lessons and trails for many people, providing the ability to experience this most wonderful lifestyle.   Our dogs have been amazing.  We are down to 12 dogs now, all of them over the age of 11 except one (Sherpa).   Since we are aging too, the timing is right.   Would we love to have puppies again?  You bet, but we aren't planning on any more pups.   It's time to pare down and enjoy these wonderful friends we have.

Thanks to all who have been a part of these past twenty years.  For summer, the dogs will kick back, we'll have Nick as a great helper again, and we'll focus on keeping all dogs healthy and happy.
